Cats in the News!

I came across this article. It's a couple months old, but yet it's still rather interesting.

The summary: Two teenagers found a dead pregnant cat. Although they didn't know how to perform a c-section, they decided to operate to try to save the kittens anyway. They were able to save two out of four kittens. Unfortunantly, one of those kittens died soon after. But the fact that one survived is a miracle. Here is the full story: Teens operate on dead cat, saving kittens

I also found this article. It's a little more recent.

First, some background info. One article came about first about a miracle cat. It explained how a cat traveled about 70 miles hanging on to the underbelly of an SUV. Read the full story here: 'Miracle' cat survives high speed, 70 mile ride

However, a few days later, another article came out about the same cat. Apparently, Miracle's true story isn't as miraculous, although I still think it's pretty amazing. Read about it here: 'Miracle' Cat's Journey Not Quite As Incredible, After All

Miracles can happen.

Are Cats Smarter Than Dogs?

Cats are mysteries. There are so many questions out there and usually you never expect to hear the answer you actually hear.

Would you believe that a cat hisses because it is imitating a snake? The snake is one of the most feared creatures in the animal world. Hissing is actually common for all land animals.

Would you believe that cats really aren't color blind? They actually see in shades of green and blue.

Another interesting fact is that if cats don't eat a substance called taurine the cat will go blind. Fortunantly, this substance is usually found in all cat food, so as long as your cat is eating it's own type of food labeled 'cat food', she should be just fine.

Are cats smarter than dogs? That's a popular question. In the animal world, a cats IQ is only surpassed by monkeys and chimps. Interesting, huh?
